Brian "Flex" McMahon - Open Mike Host, click picture for more info
I was born in Taipei, Taiwan. I traveled and lived
outside the country (Phillipines and Thailand) as a child but have
lived in Alexandria (in the same house) for 22 years.
I host the open mike at Tiffany Tavern in Old Town-Alexandria
every Thursday night from 8:30 to 11:30. This acoustic environment
allows me to explore many types of music and because I play primarily
in a soloist/duet atmosphere, I can play pretty much what I want to
(within reason). I currently play in a classic rock duo (Hit By Pitch) as a
bassist, guitarist and singer. I save my garage rock influences for my part-time band,
EMF, where I am the bassist/lead singer. I have played bass for many
bands in the past and still fill-in from time to time as it is my best
instrument. My ability to play acoustic guitar has been a great enabler
for me to be independent of any one else's tastes. My tastes vary, but I
seem to prefer 60's harmony-based folk/rock/pop, as well as obscure 60's
garage rock. Oh yeah, now I'm playing keyboard in The Kris Abe Band....we do Southern
Rock, Classic Rock and Blues and contemporary, I'm just along for the ride.

Filler - The obscure garage Rock Band
This is my baby. I get to play some favorites of mine from the late 60's.
We are a 3-piece with frequent guest performers and we strive to
be an opening band or "Filler". Jeff Hill - Drums,

Donovan - Beatlefest 2003
Got to meet the famous Donovan Leicht (Sunshine Superman/Mellow Yellow)
at Beatlefest in Chicago (2003). Other 60's icons I have met:
